Mount Mercy students along with local community leaders re-enacted a version of the hit ABC show "Shark Tank" for a class project in Entrepreneurship Class during the spring 2012 semester. Students were instructed to select a product or service and develop a business plan that could be presented to the "sharks." Similar to the show, the sharks asked questions to determine if they would invest in the project based on their business knowledge, as well as the experience of the character they were portraying.

On Tuesday, April 5, 2011 Mount Mercy University welcomed the University of Iowa’s Professor of Law and President Emeritus Willard Boyd, S.J.D., as the annual Presidential Lecture series speaker. Boyd's lectured on "The Role of Charitable Nonprofit Organizations in the United States." A renowned lawyer and educator, Boyd serves as Chair of the Larned A. Waterman Iowa Nonprofit Resource Center and serves as the President Emeritus of The Field Museum of Chicago.
