August 3 - 4
8:00 AM - 12:00 PM

When: August 3–4 (5 if needed), 2020

Where: Mount Mercy University | 1330 Elmhurst Dr. NE, Cedar Rapids, Iowa 52402

Who: High school choral students looking for a great choral experience

Time: 9 AM–12 PM; 1–4 PM Monday and Tuesday. 9 AM–12 PM Wednesday if needed

DUE TO COVID-19 restrictions, a 50-singer per day limit will be in place.  The plan is to have 25 sopranos with Amy Farley and 25 Tenors with Dr. Kreitzer in the morning, and 25 Altos and Basses in the afternoon. Registration numbers will determine who attends each day. Live streaming will be made available to those who can’t attend in person each session.

Mount Mercy’s Director of Music Activities Dr. Gerry Kreitzer and distinguished clinician Amy Farley will assist the singers in learning notes, rhythms, and texts for each piece. They will also offer coaching in the expression and style of each piece, and offer helpful approaches and demonstrations of the audition process.

A track of each piece with voice part highlighted will be made available to each participant and director on the All-State webpage.

Singers must purchase or secure from their high school choral director their own all-state music packet to bring with them. Packets may be purchased beginning July 26 at West-Kephart’s Music Center in Decorah, Iowa.

Registration Information

The registration fee is $45. Registration can be done online or by completing and returning the downloadable form.
