Holocaust Memorial Service (Yom Hashoah)

In observance of Holocaust Memorial Day, or Yom Hashoah, Rabbi Todd Thalblum of Temple Judah will lead a memorial service dedicated to those who suffered or lost their lives in the Holocaust. Michael Bornstein, a Holocaust survivor, will be present to take part.

Rabbi Todd Rabbi Todd Thalblum is a graduate of the University of Colorado and received his ordination from the Hebrew Union College – Jewish Institute of Religion, in 1999. In addition to his work for the congregation, he is also the current president of both the Inter-Religious Council of Linn County and the Midwest Association of Reform Rabbis.
   
MB In 1945, in a now-famous piece of World War II archival footage, four-year-old Michael Bornstein was filmed by Soviet soldiers as he was carried out of Auschwitz in his grandmother’s arms. In his recent book, Survivors Club: The True Story of a Very Young Prisoner of Auschwitz, Bornstein tells the unforgettable story of how a father’s courageous wit, a mother’s fierce love, and one perfectly timed illness saved his life.
