Mount Mercy University will host the third annual Chamber Choir Festival on Thursday, February 20, 2014.
This festival is geared toward high school chamber or larger ensembles that are particularly interested in preparing and performing high-quality madrigal and chamber music in an atmosphere that is both fun and musically rewarding.
Activities will include individual rehearsal opportunities with feedback from our guest clinicians Allen Chapman, Carol Tralau and Mount Mercy Director of Music Activities Dr. Gerald Kreitzer. The combined choirs will rehearsal and perform Felix Mendelssohn’s “How Lovely Are the Messengers”.
The festival will culminate with a late afternoon informal concert featuring performances by each school, the combined choir, and the Mount Mercy University Choir in the Chapel of Mercy.
This year’s participating schools are Jefferson High School (Kent Keating, director), Western Dubuque (Christine Tipple, director), Vinton-Shellsburg (Michala Michael, director), and North Linn (Lisa Caston, director).
