Artist Talk with Andrew Casto & Opening Reception

Mount Mercy University's Janalyn Hanson White Gallery will display the ceramics and sculptures of Assistant Professor of Art Andrew Casto beginning Friday, November 16, during a special exhibit: "An Exercise in Fluidity: Recent Work by Andrew Casto." The exhibit will be on display from November 16 to December 14 and is free and open to the public for viewing. An artist talk will be held on Friday, November 16, from 4:00 to 5:00 p.m. in Lundy Hall, Lundy 3, followed by an opening reception from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. in Janalyn Hanson White Gallery.

Casto joined the Mount Mercy community in 2012. An internationally recognized artist, he has received numerous awards in the United States andCasto abroad. In 2010, he was the recipient of the FuLe Prize for international emerging artists by The International Ceramics Magazine Editor's Association, in Fuping, China. In 2011, Casto was awarded the MJD Fellowship by The Archie Bray Foundation for Ceramic Art in Helena, Montana.

His work has been obtained by several prestigious permanent collections, including the Ceramics Research Center at The Arizona State University Museum of Art, the Archie Bray Foundation, the FuLe International Ceramic Art Museum, in Fuping, China, the Centre Culturel d'Andenne, in Andenne, Belgium, and the Maruchu Gallery in Toki City, Japan.
