MMU to host 40+ employers during April 5 Career Fair

Mount Mercy University will host its fourth annual Career Fair on Wednesday, April 5, at 3:30 p.m. in Hennessey Recreation Center. Local and national business will gather for this open-to-the-public recruiting event.

Employers at the fair will include ACT, Clickstop, CRST International, Four Oaks, GreatAmerica Financial Services and Mercy Medical Center, among others. Occupations represented include accounting, computer science, finance, health care, human resources, insurance, marketing, retail operations/management, sales, social services, writing/editing and more.

“The types of organizations and careers that will be represented at the fair are wide-ranging, so I encourage people with all interests and from all areas of study to attend,” said Career Services Director Cheryl Redd. “Students will also have the opportunity to learn about internships and chat with employers to gain insight into which skills are best suited for each job. What students often do not understand is that employers hire based on skills rather than the major.”

According to Redd, 87 percent of the over 40 employers are hiring May graduates, 67 percent are interested in graduate-level candidates, and 50 percent are hiring interns.

Co-hosted by Mount Mercy Career Services, Enactus, Students in Human Resource Management, and Investment Club, this event is free and open to the public.
