Art & design students to show at Marion’s Lowe Park

Art & design students from both Mount Mercy University and Kirkwood Community College will unite to show their creative work for this fifth annual exhibit.

The display, hosted at the Lowe Park Arts & Environment Center in Marion, Iowa, will run from Jan. 28 to March 5, with an opening reception Monday, Feb. 20, from 6:30 to 8 p.m.

Sponsored by the Marion Arts Council, work produced by students from Spring 2016 through Winter 2017 will be on display.

According to Mount Mercy Professor of Art Kathryn Hagy, the exhibit shows some of the best works from students in Mount Mercy art & design classes, and includes a wide range of media and techniques: graphic design, drawings, paintings, hand-made books, prints, photographs, ceramics and sculpture.

The public is welcome and encouraged to attend the exhibit and its opening. Located within the confines of beautiful Lowe Park, the Arts & Environment Center can be found at 4500 North Tenth Street, Marion. Gallery hours are: Monday–Friday, 7 a.m.–4 p.m., and the first Saturday of the month, 1–3 p.m.
