Mount Mercy University invites the community to share in its Multicultural Fair on Thursday, April 24, from 3-5:30 p.m. in the University Center Commons. The fair showcases the rich histories of cultures represented in Mount Mercy's student body, as well as promotes peace as a counter-culture initiative.
During the Multicultural Fair, international students will showcase the foods, artifacts and cultural distinctions of their native countries. Classmates, professors and members of the community will be able to visit booths and learn more about specific countries, traditions and heritages.
Countries that will be represented in the Multicultural Fair include: Canada, Jamaica, Australia, Croatia, Bosnia, Serbia, Germany, England, Burundi, Congo, Nigeria, Brazil, Chile, Scotland, Egypt, Mexico, Japan, Czech Republic, and Venezuela.
Gift cards for local restaurants featuring ethnic foods will be given as door prizes. The fair will also include a Shakespeare table as part of Mount Mercy’s celebration of his 450th birthday.
The Multicultural Fair is sponsored by Mission and Ministry and the International Club through a generous grant from the Sisters of Mercy West Midwest Region.
