Ghouls and goblins of all ages will gather at Mount Mercy University on Sunday, October 27 to celebrate Halloween on the Hill. Families from local nonprofit agencies along with university staff and volunteers will gather to enjoy snacks, crafts and games in Hennessey Recreation Center’s gymnasium at 5:00 p.m. before trick-or-treating at Regina and McAuley, two student residence halls on campus.
“Our annual event is a wonderful, safe opportunity for local children to enjoy the excitement of Halloween,” says Brooke Oehme, coordinator of volunteerism and service learning. “We’re happy to give the kids a chance to explore campus while having a great time with our students and staff. This tradition is a student-volunteer favorite.”
Halloween on the Hill expects visitors from Big Brothers Big Sisters, Tanager and Cedar Rapids Dance Marathon along with faculty and staff. Nearly 250 trick-or-treaters are expected to haunt the Mount Mercy campus during this community-building evening of spooktacular fun.
