Teatro del Pueblo traveling theatre troupe to present 'Doña Rosita’s Jalapeño Kitchen'

Mount Mercy University will host the dynamic and energetic Teatro del Pueblo traveling theatre troupe for their full stage production of Doña Rosita’s Jalapeño Kitchen. The play will be held on Tuesday, October 23, at 7:00 p.m. in the McAuley Theater on Mount Mercy's campus, and is free and open to the public. Seating may be limited.

This one-woman show tells the story of an older Mexican woman facing pressure from developers and members of the community to sell her restaurant to make way for a new shopping mall. As she prepares to close her doors, she reminisces about her restaurant and its customers, leading her to question her decision to sign away her business. Doña Rosita's Jalapeño Kitchen has received exceptional recognition from both critics and audiences.

UPDATE: The play Help Wanted! will not be performed by Teatro del Pueblo as previously advertised. Doña Rosita's Jalapeño Kitchen will replace this cultural affairs event due to unforeseen circumstances.
