Baumler named assistant vice president for enrollment management & dean of admissions

Mount Mercy University announced that Scott Baumler has been named assistant vice president for enrollment management and dean of admissions. Baumler has served the university since 2010 as dean of admissions. In his new role, Baumler will continue to oversee Mount Mercy's Office of Admissions while also providing leadership for the Office of Financial Aid.

Scott BaumlerFollowing the move to university status, Mount Mercy saw freshman enrollment grow 27 percent and transfer student enrollment grew 26 percent. Baumler implemented strategies to increase recognition of prospective students' academic achievements, including a high school Creative Writing Contest in collaboration with English faculty members, a new honors scholarship program in partnership with Kirkwood Community College, and a reinvigorated Scholarship Day program, which has since doubled in attendance.

Prior to joining the Mount Mercy community, Baumler spent 12 years at Grinnell College in Grinnell, Iowa. He has also worked at Iowa State University and The Pennsylvania State University. Baumler holds his M.S. from The Pennsylvania State University, and his B.S. from Iowa State University, and also served in the U.S. Army, where he studied public affairs journalism at the Defense Information School.
