Butler named campus minister

Marissa Butler ’07 has been named campus minister at Mount Mercy University. Butler will work as part of the Mission and Ministry Team, which includes the Office of Mercy Mission and Identity, Campus Ministry, Chaplain and Volunteerism and Service Learning. She will provide a positive impact on the Mount Mercy campus and help maintain the university’s commitment to its Catholic heritage, the Sisters of Mercy, and the common good.

Marissa ButlerButler is a 2007 Mount Mercy graduate and worked in Campus Ministry during her tenure as a student. She holds her master’s degree in pastoral studies from Loyola University in Chicago, Ill. Prior to joining the staff at Mount Mercy, Butler served as a residence hall minister at Saint Xavier University in Chicago, supervising resident peer ministers. She also has experience working with people with mental and physical disabilities.

In her new position as campus minister, Butler will coordinate and support spiritual activities including retreats and renewals, facilitate ecumenical events as well as a variety of other opportunities for faculty, staff and students. Additionally, she will work closely with students to encourage student leadership within the Campus Ministry office.
