D’Amico and Suddendorf join Mount Mercy’s admissions team

Mount Mercy University welcomed Joshua D'Amico '04 and Hannah Suddendorf as the newest members of the admissions team, effective January 3 and January 9 respectively.

As an admissions counselor, D'Amico will be responsible for recruiting and counseling college-bound high school students in the Cedar Rapids area as well as coordinating recruitment logistics for international freshmen.

As an alum of Mount Mercy, D'Amico brings a personal perspective to his new role as an admissions counselor. He has extensive experience working with college-bound students, having previously served in the recreation and housing center at Kirkwood Community College, where he provided tours of the campus, discussed course offerings and campus life, and helped prospective students and their parents find student housing.

D'Amico also gained experience working as an athletic academic advisor at the University of Northern Iowa, where he assisted UNI student athletes with class scheduling, coursework and academic support.

He holds a master's degree in public policy and education from the University of Northern Iowa, a bachelor's degree in sociology and psychology from Mount Mercy, and an associate's degree in paralegal studies from Kirkwood Community College.

As an admissions counselor, Suddendorf will be responsible for recruiting and counseling college-bound high school students in the northeast Iowa region.

She brings extensive recruiting experience to her new position at Mount Mercy, having worked in the admissions office at Wartburg College to plan and organize student visits, manage prospective students' applications, field and answer questions and coordinate logistics for high school students and their families. While at Wartburg she also served as a resident assistant, supervising a hall of 35 first-year students and planning and executing numerous monthly programs and events to help build a robust and active student life experience.

While at Wartburg she served as the vice president and then president of the Wartburg College Ambassadors, as well as the events/fundraising account executive for the Wartburg College Tower Agency. Suddendorf holds a bachelor's degree in communication arts with an emphasis in public relations from Wartburg College.
