Mount Mercy congratulates winners of 14th annual Math Contest

Mount Mercy's Department of Natural and Applied Sciences has announced the winners of the 14th annual Math Contest, which was held Thursday, October 20 on Mount Mercy's campus.

Winners were declared in both the individual and team competition. Winning in the Large School individual category, from Iowa City West, is senior Shi-ke Xue, junior Jiahang Zou, sophomore Anna Furlong and freshman Kai Gue.

Winning in the Small School individual category was Central City senior Tyler Uhlenkamp, Waverly Shell Rock junior Aaron Forest, Western Dubuque sophomore Jenny Brehm and Western Dubuque freshman Brooke Bockenstedt.

Placing first and second in the Large School Team category was Iowa City West. Placing third was Linn-Mar. Placing first in the Small School Team category was Center Point Urbana, second place went to Western Dubuque and third place went to North Cedar.

More than 120 area high school students from 13 high schools competed against one another in team and individual competitions during this fun competition in fields and criteria such as speed, accuracy, and modeling. Each team comprised of one senior, one junior, one sophomore and one first-year student.
