Mount Mercy University has named Danielle Rings director of annual support, effective August 22. The University has also named Mary Gehris director of alumni relations, effective September 7.
As director of annual support, Rings will be responsible for the planning and execution of a comprehensive annual giving program designed to continue to build operating support for the University. Rings will develop annual giving strategies utilizing telemarketing, direct mail, internet and personal solicitation to increase both annual gift income and the number of individuals and corporations who participate.
Rings brings a wealth of fundraising experience to her new position through her involvement with Theatre Cedar Rapids, the National Czech & Slovak Museum and Library, Waypoint, Junior League and numerous other community organizations. Before joining Mount Mercy she worked as an independent sales consultant for American Family Life Assurance Company since 2007.
As director of alumni relations, Gehris will work to create ongoing communication and cultivation of alumni to build and sustain alumni relationships among Mount Mercy's strong alumni base. Her responsibilities will include event planning, supervision of the alumni database, management of alumni recognition and awards programs, and administration of the alumni board. Gehris will also coordinate alumni volunteer programs in collaboration with various University departments.
Before joining Mount Mercy, Gehris served as director of annual giving as well as business development director at Four Oaks. Prior to her positions at Four Oaks, she spent 11 years as senior account executive in the Display Advertising Department of Gazette Communications, networking and facilitating vendor-supported projects. Gehris is heavily involved in the community, serving as co-director of the Marion Arts Festival and co-chair of the Association of Fund Raising Professionals' Philanthropy Day.
