Mount Mercy professor named Iowa Senior Human Resource Association officer

Tracy Tunwall

Mount Mercy University Assistant Professor of Business Tracy Tunwall has been named an officer with the Iowa Senior Human Resources Association (ISHRA) for 2011. 

Tunwall, certified as a senior professional in human resources, will serve as chairperson. As chairperson, Tunwall will advise the president and other officers and members of the board of directors regarding past practices, general operations, and other matters to assist in the smooth operation of the chapter.  Other duties will include serving as chair of the Bylaws and Nominating Committees, reviewing bylaws and recommending changes, and developing a slate of qualified candidates for open positions, among others. 

In addition to being certified as a senior professional in human resources, Tunwall is currently leading the implementation of Mount Mercy's new Human Resource Management program. She is a member of the Iowa Senior Human Resource Association as well as the Society for Human Resource Management. Tunwall also has her Senior Professional in Human Resource certification. Tunwall holds a certificate in adult learning and literacy, human resource management, and a T1 certification from the American Compensation Association. She is currently working towards a PhD in International Business. In the fall of 2008 and 2010 her case study analysis and biography for a Management textbook was published in a section entitled, "Real Managers." Tunwall also created portions of the instructor manual for The Global Challenge: International Human Resource Management, published in 2011.

Tunwall is faculty chair and advisory board member for the Mount Mercy Investments Club. Her class, "Advanced Topics in Human Resources," recently created a management training program for non-profit organizations, which benefited non-profit organizations including Tanager Place, Catherine McAuley, and Jane Boyd.

ISHRA is a chapter of the global organization Society for Human Resource Management (SHRM) and is dedicated to the development and continued learning of Senior Human Resources Professionals in the Cedar Rapids/Iowa City Corridor area and across the state of Iowa.

Members of this chapter come from a variety of industries and backgrounds, must be a member of the national SHRM organization and have a minimum of ten years HR experience.
