Student-run philanthropy club SLAM makes debut

Students Leaving a Mark provides an opportunity to celebrate giving

Mount Mercy University’s newest club, Students Leaving a Mark (SLAM) is a student-driven philanthropy club dedicated to increasing the awareness of giving on campus and thanking those who have already contributed.

Lecturer of Business Anne King and Director of Annual Support Patrick Collins helped initiate the new student-run club, which provides initiatives that seek to educate the campus on giving, while recognizing and thanking contributions already made by current students.

Student involvement in SLAM provides the opportunity for students to show their pride in Mount Mercy and participate in a long-standing tradition and mission of giving. “Mount Mercy has always been about service and giving. As a salute to alumni that have built the campus and have funded scholarships for us, we are starting a giving campaign that allows us to give back to those who came before us and to pave the way for those that come after we are gone,” says Ryan Phillips, a junior criminal justice major and co-president of SLAM.
