Mount Mercy University has named Lauren Garcia as an Admissions Counselor. She began her duties September 30.
As an Admissions Counselor, Garcia will be responsible for recruiting high school students to the institution. Her primary duties will include managing, tracking and evaluating recruitment data in her assigned territory, representing Mount Mercy in a positive manner while meeting and interacting with prospective students and their families, and building relationships with high school personnel, among other things. Garcia’s recruitment territory includes southern Iowa, Missouri and Kansas.
Prior to coming to Mount Mercy, Garcia worked in the Admissions Office at Coe College, where she provided potential students with tours and college admissions information. She also worked at Southeastern Community College, Center for Business in West Burlington, Iowa, where she served as an instructor for the “Future Works” College Prep Program. She has experience from a variety of leadership roles, including Coe’s Multi-Cultural Program and Music Programs. She also served as the executive director of Coe’s “Up ‘Til Dawn” program, which raised awareness and funds for St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital.
Garcia holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in business and Spanish, and is a member of Alpha Lambda Delta.
