Mount Mercy College will host Kelly Baier, J.D., as the keynote speaker for the annual Barbara Knapp Speaker Series on Tuesday, February 16 at 7:00 p.m. in Flaherty Community Room, Basile Hall. The presentation, titled “Regulatory and Judicial Outlook for 2010 and Beyond,” is free and open to the public.
Baier serves as Mount Mercy’s corporate attorney in his capacity with Bradley and Riley, P.C. He specializes in employment and labor, civil rights and First Amendment cases. Baier’s presentation will serve as a resource for CEOs, business leaders, human resource professionals, and others seeking to learn more about the changing landscape in employment law. He will offer insight into regulatory issues such as health care, employee leave, new laws affecting wage and hour, and employment regulations affecting same-sex couples.
The Barbara Knapp Speakers Series, named in honor of Barbara Knapp, a member of the Mount Mercy Board of Trustees and whose family founded Securities Corporation of Iowa, annually provides speakers on business-related topics of interest and benefit to Mount Mercy students, faculty, staff, and the broader community.
