Mount Mercy will welcome special guests Linda and Robert Scarth, Cedar Rapids photographers, during a special community wide book club held on Wednesday, November 11 from 4:00 to 5:00 p.m.
The book clubs, sponsored by Mount Mercy’s Busse Library, meet monthly in Mount Mercy’s Busse Center, and are free and open to the public.
Linda and Robert Scarth have recently published Deep Nature: Photographs from Iowa. The couple will offer a presentation on their critically acclaimed photography, offer insight and feedback on their work, and showcase their images during a multimedia presentation. Refreshments will be provided.
“The book club is a wonderful opportunity to bring community members together who share of love of reading and books,” says Mount Mercy Reference Librarian and Archivist Kristy Raine.
Linda and Robert Scarth have been photographing the natural world for many years, with special em¬phasis on the flora and fauna of the Midwest. In addition to numerous trips in the United States, they have photographed in Australia, Africa, South America, and the Falkland Islands. Most of their work has involved teaching and research. Most recently, before retirement, Robert was a research scientist and statistician for the University of Iowa’s Institute of Rural and Environmental Health. Linda served as the reference librarian at Mount Mercy for 15 years, from 1993-2008.
