Mount Mercy President Dr. Christopher Blake has contributed a chapter to the new book, President to President: Views on Technology in Higher Education, Vol II.
Blake’s chapter, “Advancement: Connecting to Constituencies Inside and Out,” explores how mission, connections, purpose and data are crucial in advancement endeavors. Blake focuses on the intriguing connections between facts and relationships, head and heart, and intuition and information within the realms of data and constituents.
The book is published by SunGard Higher Education and the Council of Independent Colleges (CIC), and includes chapters by nine other college and university presidents. CIC member presidents were asked to contribute essays based on their direct experiences with technology. The combined chapters address the fundamental question: How can colleges and universities use technology to improve the business of higher education while still honoring its mission? The technologies considered include everything from social media to cloud computing to analytics.
“Presidents have much to gain in conversation with each other,” says Blake. “My attempt at this chapter was to help encourage and sustain conversation and dialogue on such an important line of work.”
