Jason Alberty has been Mount Mercy University’s Drama Coordinator since 2013.
Alberty has been involved in Eastern Iowa drama since 1996. He has acted in, directed or produced over 50 productions in that time. His directing credits include, among others, A Streetcar Named Desire, The Laramie Project, Noises Off, Gross Indecency: The Three Trials of Oscar Wilde and Six Characters in Search of an Author for Theatre Cedar Rapids. He is a core member of the Classics at Brucemore and has directed Macbeth, The Night of the Iguana and A Midsummer Night’s Dream for the outdoor theatre. He has done work for The Urban Theatre Project of Iowa, Right Purdy Pictures and BVS Performance Solutions; he is currently a writer, director and producer for SPT Theatre.
Alberty is the creator of The Foundry Performance Laboratory, an experimental theatrical think tank and workshop for creative individuals to explore and better their theatrical craft.
