Students are encouraged to gain hands-on experience through internship possibilities. Past opportunities have included a variety of companies and organizations like the Cedar Rapids Freedom Festival, Alliant Energy, and Waypoint.
Marketing students have the opportunity to participate in research projects. Past projects have included investigation on giving patterns and delivery of services in rural counties for the United Way of East Central Iowa, campus-wide surveys to help develop an employment brand for GreatAmerica Leasing, and division investigations for local real estate company Skogman.
Marketing majors enjoy study opportunities in the European Union and are offered elective credit in the major for attending. Past student have traveled to Ireland, Belize and Italy.
Marketing majors find great value in the marketing experts speaker series, an opportunity for students to learn from professional who are willing to share their personal experiences. A variety of marketing professionals discuss their educational backgrounds, career journeys, and their knowledge of the marketing world. Students are exposed to the plethora of career choices available in the field.
Marketing students also enjoy being part of Enactus, a student club providing the chance to develop leadership skills through learning, practicing, and teaching the principles of free enterprise with the motto "A head for business, a heart for the world."
