A management degree from Mount Mercy goes beyond basic numbers and charts. Students gain a solid foundation in business through hands-on learning that inspires them to lead significant, courageous lives. Management majors explore fundamentals in law, leadership, marketing, accounting and economics, while a variety of electives in areas such as risk management, investments, entrepreneurship, human resources and international economics make Mount Mercy’s management degree flexible and customizable.
Five emphasis areas are available to students, furthering degree customization: management, international management, operations management, sports management and sustainability/corporate social responsibility management. Qualified management students may also take up to three graduate classes that will count toward both their undergraduate degree and a future graduate degree.
Students in business-related majors are encouraged to undertake faculty-guided research, allowing them to gain professional experience even before graduation. Mount Mercy’s strong ties to local businesses and nonprofits gives students a wide array of options for internships, allowing for real-world experience, bolstering a graduate’s resume.
Students with a passion to serve and lead as part of a team find this program helps prepare them to excel not only in the workplace, but also in their community. “My Students in Free Enterprise — SIFE, now known as Enactus — experience was phenomenal. That experience connected me to the broader world and taught me many valuable skills and lessons. Mount Mercy faculty was instrumental in my success and maturation, and was flexible in my class scheduling to accommodate work experiences.”
