Dr. Kim Bro, Assistant Professor of Nursing, has been teaching nursing students full time since 2006. She has been with the Mount Mercy University nursing department full time since 2010. Bro teaches in the undergraduate program at sophomore level, and in the graduate program in the Nurse Educator tract. She coordinates summer and J-term clinical internships.

Bro’s dissertation involved interviewing nursing adjunct clinical faculty and discovering how they best learn their clinical teaching role. She enjoys working with nursing adjunct clinical faculty and wants them to become the best instructors they can. Bro is dedicated to narrowing the gap between nursing education and practice.

She is passionate about cardiac nursing and still practices as a staff nurse in the Heart Holding unit and teaches Basic Life Support at UnityPoint Health-St. Luke’s Hospital. She belongs to the American Nurse’s Association, Iowa Nurse’s Association, and Sigma Theta Tau International-Kappa Xi chapter. She volunteers as an intake nurse at the Community Health Free Clinic.

In her spare time, she enjoys traveling, spending time with family and kickboxing.
