Kelly Siems primarily teaches in the RN to BSN program. Her courses include Concepts of Baccalaureate Nursing, Pharmacotherapeutics, Population Based Nursing, Professional Aspects of Nursing, Capstone: Nursing, and Pathophysiology, Assessment and Genetics. Siems also instructs traditional classes including Pathophysiology, Essentials of Nutrition, and a holistic health course. Her main areas of interest include pharmacology, pathophysiology, and dialysis/renal content.

Before coming to Mount Mercy University, Siems taught associate degree nursing courses for eight years. She also worked as a maternal health coordinator for the Hawkeye Area Community Action Program (HACAP) and as a staff nurse for Mercy Medical Center in Cedar Rapids and the Virginia Gay Hospital in Vinton.

Siems is a member of the National League of Nursing, the Iowa Nurses Association, the American Nurses Association and the Alpha Kappa Chapter of Sigma Theta Tau International Honor Society. She also is a certified CPR instructor, a certified nurse educator, and is certified in the simulation instruction by Laerdal and Gaumard.

In her free time, Siems likes to spend time with her three young children and her husband. She enjoys kickboxing, lifting weights, and scrapbooking.
