International studies majors seek to learn about the global market. The major offers an understanding of social, cultural, and economic relationships across the world to help students understand international relations.
The international studies major prepares students for a career with businesses and corporations involved in international trade, government agencies, nonprofit and non-governmental organizations, human rights organizations and the United Nations. Some students choose to continue to graduate school at institutions like Iowa State University or Mount Mercy’s Master of Strategic Leadership program.
Students are encouraged to participate in Scholarship Festival, a day-long showcase of research, as chance to share the best of their work with the campus community. In the past, international studies students presented research on topics like regime changes and effects on violence
Internships are required for the international studies major. These can be done at a local, national, or international level.
