Graduate Nursing Faculty—Family Nurse Practitioner

As Mount Mercy University plans for the addition of a Doctor of Nursing Practice program in the near future, the University seeks a Family Nurse Practitioner to assume a full-time graduate faculty position for 2017-18. The new member will join the faculty team of a successful, CCNE accredited graduate program where those in an established MSN program will welcome a doctoral level offering expected to start within the coming academic year. The DNP will focus on preparing ARNP’s to practice primary care family nursing with urban and rural populations. Additional faculty positions are anticipated as the program launches.

This is a unique opportunity for a student-centered, innovative, collaborative self-starter who will teach students and continue practice as determined by a contractual agreement.

  • Master’s in Nursing from an accredited nursing program
  • Certified as a family nurse practitioner with eligibility for prescriptive authority in IA
  • Current RN licensure in Iowa or ability to obtain license prior to the start of contract
  • At least one year as practicing FNP
  • Demonstrated cross-cultural communication skills, with multicultural competency and experience interacting effectively with diverse students, faculty, and staff
  • Teaching experience preferred (required for tenure track status)

Interested applicants should submit curriculum vitae, an application letter summarizing qualifications for the position, and names of three references as Microsoft Word or Adobe Acrobat attachments to: with the subject line: graduate Nursing faculty.
