About

Dr. Nate Klein is a 2007 alumnus of Mount Mercy and joined the Department of Business in 2014 as a professor and advisor for Enactus before later becoming the Vice President for Student Success in 2018.

Before coming home to Mount Mercy, Nate spent seven years with Aflac at their headquarters in Columbus, GA and in Columbia, South Carolina at the Aflac Group as a senior manager. He also has work experience with large organizations in multiple industries such as Best Buy, Junior Achievement, the Arc of East Central Iowa and General Mills in Cedar Rapids.

Nate has been involved as a member of numerous nonprofit boards in Georgia including the Literacy Alliance, United Way and Columbus Chamber Young Professionals.  In South Carolina, he continued his work with United Way as a Young Leader Society committee member and reading mentor for the Midlands Reading Consortium.  In Cedar Rapids, he is the leadership facilitator for the Cedar Rapids Metro Economic Alliance Leadership for Five Season group, has served on the Advisory Board for ImpactCR, as well as on the board at United Way, and past chair of the Catherine McAuley Center.

He has been awarded National Alumni of the Year and Sam Walton Fellow of the Year from Enactus USA, recognized as a 5 Under 40 awardee from Columbus and the Valley as well as the Corridor Business Journal’s 40 Under 40 award here locally, along with numerous volunteer service awards. He was also Mount Mercy’s Catherine McAuley Award recipient in 2007 and was honored with the Certificate of Merit from Mount Mercy in 2011. He is a Precision Leadership Certified Coach, holds a Green Belt Certification from the American Society for Quality, and is a Mercy Associate with the Sisters of Mercy.

He enjoys traveling the world with his wife Jenny, reading books and playing outside with his two little girls (Lily and Ellary), volunteering in the community, staying active in various sports, and playing with his dog Lincoln the labradoodle.
