About
Eric Hearn, assistant professor of accounting, came to Mount Mercy as an adjunct professor in 2008, and joined the full-time faculty in 2011.
He teaches Income Tax, Principles of Accounting, Intermediate Accounting, Governmental and Nonprofit Accounting, and Personal Finance.
Before taking up teaching full time, Hearn worked as an accountant and worked in tax preparation. His experience working in the field is an asset for his students. He also previously served as an accounting instructor for Kaplan University.
Outside of teaching, Hearn stays active in the community by volunteering. In 1998, he was honored with the Arc Advocate of the Year award. In addition to volunteering, Hearn also enjoys travelling and attending live theater performances.
