Provided below are recommended links that provide additional information on counseling and other related services within the Cedar Rapids community.  These links are for students and parents to utilize as they feel appropriate. Mount Mercy University does not provide long-term counseling and psychotherapy. It is beyond Counseling Services’ scope of practice to provide ongoing counseling and psychotherapy for students who may be diagnosed with a variety of serious, long-term psychiatric conditions, and individuals who appear to be a recurring high risk to themselves or to the Mount Mercy University community. Counseling Services does not prescribe or monitor psychotropic medications. At a student’s request or the counselor’s discretion, referrals can be made to an outside mental health clinic for medical evaluation or ongoing prescription support.
