Carol Heim, Associate Professor of Nursing, has been with the Mount Mercy nursing department since 1983. Within this area, she teaches a junior level adult/pediatric nursing intervention course and a sophomore level nursing skills course. Another area of long-term interest is the preparation of students for the National Council Licensure Examination for registered nurses (NCLEX-RN). She teaches a senior level nursing course that focuses heavily on the preparation for this licensure exam.
Heim's clinical background includes experience in general medical nursing, cardiac telemetry, surgical urology/gynecology, and general surgical nursing. She belongs to Sigma Theta Tau International: Kappa Xi chapter and is on a planning committee for the Nursing Student Cancer Conference, which is sponsored by Mercy Cancer Center and is offered to nursing students from Mount Mercy, Coe College, and Kirkwood Community College every other year. She was selected as the Dr. Thomas Feld Chair for Teaching Excellence for 2004-06 and was very involved with the development of Mount Mercy's current Core curriculum.
In her spare time, Heim enjoys reading, movies, camping, and spending time with her family and friends.
