Student Engagement Coordinator

Mount Mercy University is a Catholic, coeducational University founded by the Sisters of Mercy in 1928 enrolling approximately 1,800 students. The University offers a variety of liberal arts, professional, accelerated and graduate degree programs on a picturesque campus overlooking the city.

Mount Mercy University is seeking candidates to fill the position of Student Engagement Coordinator with the Student Services team. This position reports to the Director of Student Engagement and is a full-time, exempt position. 

The Coordinator will serve a diverse student population of both residential and commuter students by creating a vibrant campus community through weekly, night, and weekend programming.

The Coordinator will assist in essential leadership components for Mount Mercy University’s student activities area leading several initiatives to engage students on campus.

The ideal candidate should be excited to provide quality night and weekend activities to assist students with the goal of building a vibrant campus community that improves student involvement in order to improve student achievement, retention and graduation rates. The Student Engagement Coordinator will advise the Mount Mercy Activities Programming Board (M2AP Board), which hosts over 40 campus events in a year. This position will create and implement a Leadership Program open to all students that will prepare them to lead a courageous life on and off-campus. Additional initiatives this position would support include Intramurals/Health programming, Homecoming, Senior Week, and creating communication strategies for current students and parents. The Student Engagement Coordinator will also serve as the liaison between the Mount Mercy community and Ready Education, provider of the MMU app, to make an effective tool for all users.

We are looking to hire with the purposes of diversifying our Student Services team to meet the changing demographics of our student population.  Ideal candidate should possess experience in student activity planning, intramural programming, student leader mentorship, and work with a diverse student population.  This position requires an individual to be proactive and take the lead on initiatives in collaboration with both the Student Services team and greater Mount Mercy University community.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

  • Successful experience in planning activities and intramurals programs for traditional undergraduate students (residential and commuter populations).
  • Significant experience as a member of and leader of student clubs and organizations in a college community.
  • High level of initiative, planning, communication, and organizational skills.
  • Extensive experience using positive personal relationship and community building skills to motivate exceptional performance with student leaders and community members.
  • Ability to communicate clearly and lead programs.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Master’s degree is desired, yet exceptional candidates with a bachelor’s degree will also be considered.
