Position Description

Mount Mercy University seeks qualified applicants for a full-time, tenure-track Assistant/Associate Professor of Biology and/or Chemistry with the ability to teach a wide array of biology and/or chemistry courses to start in August 2024. We seek a student-centered, enthusiastic, collaborative, and innovative colleague.

The ideal applicant will hold a Ph.D. in Biology, Biochemistry, Chemistry or other highly related discipline. ABD candidates are encouraged to apply. Responsibilities include the ability to teach undergraduate courses that could include a subset (but not all) of the following: Physiology, Genetics, Introductory Biology courses, Biochemistry I or II, Analytical Chemistry, Physical Chemistry, Physics and non-major science courses, with the potential to teach specialized courses in a field of expertise.

Excellence as an educator is our top priority. Faculty teach 5-6 classes per year, engage in a research program with undergraduate students, advise students and provide service to the university. The successful applicant will be expected to work with existing faculty to expand and improve the science curriculums to meet the needs of our undergraduate students
