Dish Room Attendant/Custodian

Position Summary

Mount Mercy University is a Catholic, coeducational University founded by the Sisters of Mercy in 1928 enrolling approximately 1800 students. The University offers a variety of liberal arts, professional, accelerated, and graduate degree programs on a picturesque campus overlooking the city.

Mount Mercy University is currently seeking candidates to fill the Dish Room Attendant-Custodian position. This is a full-time, non-exempt (hourly) position.

  • As a member of the Facilities custodial and dining staff at Mount Mercy University you are responsible for cleaning dishes and utensils throughout the service day along with always ensuring a high state of cleanliness in the dish room.
  • This position supports the operation of our dish room located in the kitchen with the ability to handle a fast-paced dish conveyor return and be able to bring dishes back to the kitchen and cafeteria.
  • In addition, able to maintain floors, walls, dish returns, dish machine, and carts used in the dish responsibilities.
  • Personal safety as well as the safety of those who use the space in which you work and clean.
  • Professionalism in manner, dress, and attitude.
  • Provide basic custodial services.

Qualifications

  • Knowledge of custodial work or a willingness to learn.
  • Capable of being around cleaning chemicals.
  • Ability to run conveyor belt, garbage disposal, and dish machine
  • Must be able to work safely in an environment containing chemicals, cleaning materials, and noise.
  • Must be proficient in English.

Physical Demands

  • Regularly required to use hands, also bend, kneel and crouch.
  • Frequently required to stand, walk, and reach with hands, and arms.
  • Occasionally will inhale chemical fumes or come in contact with dirt and residue.

Work Schedule

  • 8 hours total per day, (4 hours custodial and 4 hours dish attendant), 5 days a week.
  • Part-time opportunities could be available in lieu of.
