Dean of Graduate and Adult Programs

Mount Mercy University is a Catholic, coeducational university founded by the Sisters of Mercy in 1928 enrolling approximately 1,800 students. The University offers a variety of liberal arts, professional, accelerated and graduate degree programs on a picturesque campus overlooking the city. Mount Mercy University is seeking candidates to fill the position of Dean of Graduate and Adult Programs within the Academic Affairs Department. This position reports to the Provost and is a full-time, exempt (salaried) position.

Primary purpose

The dean of graduate and adult programs is responsible for ongoing contributions to enrollment growth, short and long-term planning, operational oversight, policy development, communication, and academic and student affairs priorities and initiatives related to graduate and adult programs. The Dean of Graduate and Adult Programs regularly collaborates with financial aid; business office; recruiters; athletics; admissions; registrar’s office; campus safety; events; facilities; career services; library; marketing and communications; academic center for excellence, alumni office, and other services that support graduate and adult students.

The dean is responsible for establishing strategic directions for graduate and adult programs as well as building a culture and graduate and adult student success. The dean provides leadership to assure high quality admission, student services, orientation, and retention support services for graduate, and adult students. The dean is expected to proactively develop relationships with outside partners which lead to increases in student enrollment. 


An earned doctorate or appropriate terminal degree and minimum of 5+ years of experience in college/university administration or related experience in higher education required. Previous experience with adult student recruiting and graduate program administration is preferred.
