Position Summary

Mount Mercy University invites applications for an Instructor, Assistant, or Associate Professor of Computer Science for the 2022-23 academic year. Rank will be commensurated with experience.

We are seeking a student-centered, enthusiastic, collaborative, and innovative colleague. Ideal candidates will have a Ph.D. in Computer Science or a closely related field, can teach a variety of computer science classes, and are able to help build the existing data science program. The minimum requirement for this position is a master’s degree with a minimum of 18 credits in Computer Science.

Responsibilities include teaching a wide range of undergraduate courses in computer science with the possibility of teaching data science courses. Excellence in teaching is a top priority for this position. Faculty are expected to teach approximately 7-8 courses per academic year (21-24 credit hours).

Tenure-track faculty must engage in scholarship, which is widely defined in the context of a liberal arts institution, including research with undergraduate students. Other responsibilities include undergraduate advising, curriculum development, and service to the institution.
