Assistant Professor of Exercise Science

Mount Mercy University seeks qualified applicants for a full-time tenure-track Assistant Professor of Exercise Science position to support the newly launched BS in Exercise Science program. We seek a student-centered, enthusiastic, collaborative, and innovative colleague.

The ideal applicant will hold a Ph.D. in Exercise Science, Kinesiology, Exercise Physiology or other highly related discipline. Candidates will be able to teach Exercise Physiology, Environmental Physiology, Structural and Functional Kinesiology, Exercise Testing and Prescription. The ideal candidate will also be able to teach at least one of following courses: Introduction to Exercise Science, Prevention and Care of Athletic Injuries, Principles of Strength and Conditioning, or Human Anatomy/Physiology. The ability to advise and supervise internships is also preferred. Experience developing and teaching online courses is highly desired.

Excellence as an educator is the top priority. Faculty teach seven classes per year, engage in a research program with student assistants, and provide service to the university. The candidate must also show a willingness to serve as the Exercise Science Program Coordinator. The successful applicant will be expected to work with existing faculty to expand the exercise science curriculum to meet increased enrollment. The ideal applicant will also demonstrate experience forming community partnerships in order to increase the visibility of the program and create internship opportunities for students.
