Position Summary

The Mount Mercy University Martin-Herold College of Nursing & Health seeks a Doctorally-prepared Nurse Practitioner to serve as Faculty Practitioner in the DNP & MSN programs starting in the 2021-2022 academic year.

This is a full-time teaching position with 2 days a week allowed for clinical practice. Faculty Practitioners will be on campus to teach face-to-face classes with option for additional MSN online courses. Committee participation and other program responsibility is also part of this role. This dual role provides work/life balance, excellent income, and practical experience to share with students.

The MSN program includes five areas of emphasis (forensic nursing, nursing informatics, nursing administration, health advocacy, and nurse education). The DNP program prepares nurses to become primary care FNPs or for any currently certified nurse practitioner to complete the DNP degree.

This is a unique opportunity for a student-centered, innovative, collaborative self-starter who wants to teach students and continue practicing part-time as a nurse practitioner.

Qualifications

  • Required - Doctoral degree (DNP or PhD) from an accredited nursing program.
  • Master of Science in Nursing from an accredited nursing program.
  • NP Certified (AANP or ANCC) with eligibility for prescriptive authority in IA. FNP preferred, but other certifications will be considered.
  • Current Iowa ARNP and RN licenses or ability to obtain licenses prior to the start of contract.
  • At least one year as practicing FNP.
  • Cross-cultural communication skills, with multicultural sensitivity and experience interacting effectively with diverse students, faculty, and staff desired.
  • Teaching experience preferred.
