Position Summary

The Department of Psychology, Social Work, & Sociology is seeking applications for a full-time tenure-track Assistant/Associate Professor position in Sport, Health, and Exercise Psychology (SHEP). Our popular SHEP minor is growing and we are in need of an energetic, collaborative colleague to help our program best serve our students’ needs.  Our department is a very supportive and team-oriented environment and is looking for someone who can work well with others while also directing the SHEP minor.

The ideal applicant will hold a Ph.D. in psychology or related field with expertise in sport, health, and exercise psychology courses. The qualified applicant will be expected to teach some combination of the following courses: Sports Psychology, Health Psychology, Exercise Psychology, Psychology of Coaching, Critical Perspectives in Sport and Physical Activity, Intro Psychology, and courses of personal interest.  Candidates who can also teach Statistics and Research Methods will be very competitive. The person hired for this position will be in control of the SHEP minor and will be encouraged to shape it as they see fit.

The successful candidate should already have experience teaching in a liberal arts college. While excellence as an educator is the top priority, the candidate will also be expected to conduct scholarly research activities with students, advise undergraduates, and serve on university committees. Candidates are expected to teach seven classes a year.
