Assistant/Associate Professor of Mathematics

Mount Mercy University is seeking an assistant/associate professor in mathematics.

Position Summary

Mount Mercy University seeks qualified applicants for a full-time tenure-track Assistant/Associate Professor of Mathematics beginning in August 2024. We seek a student-centered, enthusiastic, collaborative, and innovative colleague.

The ideal applicant will hold a Ph.D. in Mathematics or other closely related discipline. ABD candidates are encouraged to apply. Responsibilities include teaching a wide range of undergraduate courses in mathematics with the possibility of teaching data science courses. Excellence in teaching is a top priority for this position.

Faculty are expected to teach approximately 7 courses per academic year (21 hours). Tenure-track faculty must engage in scholarship, which is widely defined in the context of a liberal arts institution, including research with undergraduate students. Other responsibilities include undergraduate advising, curriculum development, and service to the institution.

The successful candidate must demonstrate a willingness to support Mount Mercy’s mission. Mount Mercy University is a Catholic, coeducational University founded by the Sisters of Mercy in 1928, enrolling approximately 1500 students.
