POSITION SUMMARY

Mount Mercy’s enrollment team invites applications for a full-time Admission Recruiter, Graduate and Adult Programs.   The Admissions Recruiter is responsible for recruiting students to the University by developing relationships with prospective students and employers to assist students in learning how Mount Mercy University may be a good fit for their educational goals.  The recruiter will assist the Executive Director in the development of successful prospecting strategies to significantly increase inquiries and applicants to achieve recruitment goals for each program.

The individual in this position is responsible for developing and implementing of a variety of recruitment activities and services which will attract and benefit working adult and graduate students to MMU.    The individual should be goal driven and exhibit a high level of creativity, enthusiasm, communication, interpersonal and organizational skills.  The duties of this position require some work in the evenings and on designated weekends for on and off-campus recruitment events.  In addition, this person must be professional in dealing with external and internal audiences, as well as enthusiastic and a highly effective representative of the University. 

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Effectively and efficiently recruit students to the University by assisting students as they come to understand the benefits of attending Mount Mercy.
  • Maintain high level understanding of program benefits, course requirements, and admission criteria.
  • Increase inquiries, applicants, and enrollment in the graduate and accelerated programs through creative prospecting, events, social media, communication strategies, and publications.
  • Schedule and represent Mount Mercy at on and off-campus recruiting activities to generate student interest.
  • Engage current students and alumni in outreach, referral, and marketing activities.
  • Regularly build and maintain relationships with business and community leaders.
  • Communicate daily with prospective students via phone, email, social media, and text, and develop excellent printed and electronic correspondence.
  • Counsel prospective students through the application, scholarship and financial aid processes.
  • Process admission paperwork for prospective students.
  • Assist with pre-registration and orientation activities for incoming students as needed.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE & EDUCATION

  • Bachelor’s degree required, masters preferred.
  • One or more years in college/university admissions and recruitment, sales or related experience in higher education.

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES

  • Outstanding creativity in outreach strategies, communication, and relationship building.
  • Demonstrated ability to influence, interact, and communicate to prospective students, families, businesses, and colleagues in higher education.
  • Demonstrated ability to meet enrollment goals.
    Exceptional organizational skills which result in the ability to successfully manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and work independently. 
  • Knowledge of a variety of computer software applications.
  • Ability to work independently and to travel by car.
  • Ability to establish collaborative working relationships with faculty, staff, students, and outside constituent groups
