At Mount Mercy, it's easy to make friends, join clubs and organizations, and try new things. With so many ways to get involved, there are also plenty of opportunities to gain leadership experience! You'll quickly find that your calendar is full of events. Additionally, outside musicians, comedians, and entertainers regularly perform on campus.

Student Activities

Major campus events and volunteer opportunities are publicized through campus emails and newsletters, and posted on the student portal, Brightspace. You'll find that the University Center is the central hub for informal and hosted student events. The UC has two big screen TV's, as well as a game area with pool tables and ping pong. You can check out everything from board games, to bicycles, and the Wii gaming system. Be sure to stop by from 3 to 4 PM on Fridays for Club Friday.

Campus Traditions

Each week, one MMU student organization hosts an event with food, prizes, and activities for students, faculty, and staff to enjoy. The organization can show-off their club and recruit new members. Don’t miss Christmas Club Friday where students complete in a gingerbread house building competition and hang with Santa! No matter who is hosting, Club Friday is a great way to end the week at MMU.

Family & Friends Weekend is an opportunity for parents, siblings, and friends to experience a slice of Mount Mercy life. Join us for a weekend full of fun events—and while you’re here, explore all Cedar Rapids has to offer!

Students get dressed up for a formal dinner with turkey and all the trimmings in the Dining Hall. Many thanks to the faculty and staff members who make the evening so special for our students!

Annual traditions at the Thanksgiving Dress Dinner include residence floor group photos, the announcement of the Student Government Association election results for the next year, and the results of Cedar Rapids Dance Marathon's fundraiser for Turkey King and Queen.

The glamor is turned up as the University Center is transformed into a mini-Vegas, with gaming tables and students and staff decked out in their most outrageous outfits. A lucky few opt for the joy of a quick Vegas-style wedding while others find out how low they can go!

Spring Fling Week, a jam-packed, five-day schedule of activities and events for the Mount Mercy community, is a time for students, faculty, and staff to celebrate the signs of spring and to relax before final exams.
