William Mulcahey, director of campus ministry at Mount Mercy and adjunct professor for the Religious Studies Department, joined the university in July 2002. Prior to coming to Mount Mercy, Bill was the chairperson and professor of theology and scripture at Ave Maria College of the Americas in Nicaragua.
Bill earned his bachelor’s degree in philosophy from Mary Immaculate College in Northampton, PA and his Master of Divinity from Mary Immaculate Seminary. He earned his licentiate degree magna cum laude in sacred scripture from Pontifical Biblical Institute in Rome, Italy.
Bill has lived in Central and South America and is fluent in Spanish. He has hosted over 100 retreats, parish presentations and speaking engagements in English and Spanish on the Bible, Catholic studies, and the Catholic intellectual tradition. He is a member of the Catholic Biblical Association of America.
In his spare time, Bill keeps up-to-date on scriptural and theological studies. He enjoys watching his teenage daughters grow up, and occasionally visits old haunts in Latin America with his family.
