Mount Mercy University’s Department of Natural and Applied Sciences invites applications for a tenure-track faculty position in mathematics at the rank of Assistant Professor beginning Fall 2015. Responsibilities include instruction of diverse undergraduate courses for mathematics majors, K - 12 education majors with mathematics endorsements, actuarial science, and non-majors. Responsibilities also include: advising students, mentoring undergraduate research, engaging in scholarship, and serving on university committees. Some evening hours may occur.
Successful candidates will have a broad background in mathematics and proven teaching skills. A PhD in Mathematics or a related field is required for a tenure-track position, and there is an expectation of scholarship with undergraduate students. The successful candidate will also be expected to support STEM initiatives, especially for women.
The successful candidate must also demonstrate a willingness to support Mount Mercy’s mission as a Catholic university providing student-focused education in the spirit of the Sisters of Mercy.
