Fulfill your promise to yourself

The UnityPoint Health–St. Luke’s Hospital Senior Student Promise Program is designed to support senior nursing students in completing their education, with the promise of a nursing role there after graduation—and a sign-on bonus of $5,000 or $10,000.

As a Promise Program award recipient, you'll receive additional financial support of up to $25,000 to apply toward tuition and fees in your final two semesters, after all financial aid has been applied.

Fulfill your promise to yourself by completing your degree with financial support and the confidence that comes from knowing you have a job lined up after graduation.

We are proud to offer the Senior Student Promise Program to Mount Mercy nursing students. We hope by supporting soon-to-be graduating students, they will see the benefits of working for a hospital that is Magnet-recognized for Nursing Excellence by the American Credentialing Center and who invests, supports, and empowers its nurses to not only lead patient care, but also drive innovation and organizational change.

Program design and benefits

The UnityPoint Health–St. Luke’s Hospital Senior Student Promise Program applies to senior nursing students who will graduate in 2022 or 2023 and accept a guaranteed offer of employment in a unit or department identified as an area of need.

Promise Program award recipients will receive up to $25,000 to be applied to tuition and fees (including books) in their final two semesters, after all financial aid has been applied (student loans not included in the calculation).

If a student has less than an estimated $25,000 bill for their last two semesters, the payment will match the total amount owed.

Upon employment, Promise Program award recipients will receive a sign-on bonus of:

  • $10,000 to join UnityPoint Health–St. Luke's 3C-3W Inpatient Surgical Team

  • $5,000 to join any other of UnityPoint Health–St. Luke's inpatient nursing units or float pools in Critical Care, Adult Acute Care, Inpatient Rehabilitation or Behavioral Health, Emergency Department or their Operating Rooms

Tuition support and sign-on bonus are forgiven at 18 months of employment as an RN.

Students selected for the Promise Program will be provided guaranteed employment at UnityPoint Health–St. Luke’s Hospital upon graduation, successful completion of the NCLEX, and securing an Iowa Nursing License.

Promise Program award recipients benefit from generous employment opportunities, including:

  • UnityPoint Health–St. Luke's Hospital 3C-3W Inpatient Surgical Team. Start your career with a cohort of fellow graduates in a completely renovated space where you'll work together to pilot and advance the newest and best models of care delivery, with supportive resources including a dedicated Advanced Practice Nurse.
  • Any other UnityPoint Health–St. Luke's Hospital inpatient nursing units or float pools in critical care, adult acute care, inpatient rehabilitation or behavioral health, emergency department or their operating rooms
