This position will provide oversight, marketing and management responsibilities for the public web site for Mount Mercy University. This position will maintain the University’s coordinated and dynamic presence on the site by managing content (including text, image and video), site design and maintenance, programming, and user education.  It will also serve as the primary campus contact to facilitate updates of the web site and is responsible for the enforcement of online visual design standards and web writing guidelines as well as user training on the CMS. The Web Marketing Manager will also help guide strategic advancement of core marketing and communications objectives through the public web site as they relate to enrollment, retention, marketing and image building, alumni services and development.

Responsibilities Include:

Manage the development, updating, editing, and moderation of all web content (this includes both text and image-based content such as video):

  • Serve as primary campus contact to facilitate updates of web content.
  • Manage any interns, graduate assistants and/or work study students responsible for developing web content.
  • Work closely with the Assistant Director of Communications & Marketing and the Coordinator for Marketing and Media Content on content development strategies.

Work closely with the Assistant Vice President for Communications & Marketing to develop and implement a multi-channel marketing strategy that integrates digital and non-digital applications (such as print and mobile), enhances marketing, recruiting and fundraising efforts with measurable results and pushes MMU forward.

Create new web or micro sites, web pages and web templates as needed, guided by strategy and approved by appropriate leadership:

  • Enforce online visual design standards and web writing guidelines.
  • Serve as the primary campus contact for all programming needs for the public web site and managing, implementing and resolving all programming-related issues.
  • Ensure and maintain architecture, usability and navigation.
  • Maintain quality and consistency, define design requirements, propose and develop new functions in relation to user analysis and industry trends.
  • Serve as the primary resource for training MMU employees on web-related needs, such as writing for the web and working in the CMS.

The ideal candidate will have a Bachelor’s degree in marketing, communications, computer science or a related degree and two years of experience in a related marketing and communications environment.  Also needed:

  • Extensive experience in computer and web site design and development.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office programs and Mac programs.
  • Knowledge of broad range of online production and design tools.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of web design and multimedia applications—two years experience in HTML/web design required.
  • Experience developing professional web graphics using Adobe Photoshop.
  • Strong understanding of PHP, (X)HTML, CSS, object-oriented programming.
  • Experience with Drupal and/or other well regarded open-source CMS programs.
  • Strong organizational and computer skills.
  • Ability to train others in how to write for web and how to work in CMS.
  • Strong ability to serve as a project manager.
  • Experience writing and/or editing for the web a must.
  • Strong capacity for visual design and must be detail oriented.
  • Understanding of private higher education preferred or having worked on a campus a plus.
  • Ability to train others in how to write for web and how to work in CMS
