Voice Recital Series

Each year, with support from Cultural Affairs, the music department at Mount Mercy presents a visiting artist recital series that features professional opera singers that is free and open to the Mount Mercy community and general public. These guest vocalists maintain an active performance career, many of them nationally and internationally. The work of both Daniel Kleinknecht and Tony Nickle in the professional opera world help to establish the relationships that make it possible to draw such accomplished talent to our campus. Since its inception in 2010, audiences at Mount Mercy have been serenaded with art songs of Mahler, Schumann, and Poulenc, and arias of Mozart, Tchaikovsky, and Stravinsky, to name a few. The beautiful Commons in the University Center provides an open yet intimate setting for these programs. For works set in a foreign language, supertitle translations are projected onto a screen.
