Vice President for Enrollment Management

The Vice President for Enrollment Management reports directly to the President and is a member of the President’s Cabinet.  As the University’s strategic and operational leader on matters related to enrollment, the Vice President plays a central role in implementing Mount Mercy University’s strategic plan and is involved in senior-level conversations and decisions concerning enrollment issues.  The Vice President provides vision and leadership for the Offices of Admissions, Financial Aid, Athletics and Marketing & Communications.  Primary responsibilities include: 

  • Provide visionary leadership, management, implementation and measurement of a comprehensive enrollment management plan that is aligned with the University’s vision, mission and strategic plan and that encompasses the breadth and diversity of student recruits and enrollment categories. 
  • Continually monitor outcomes of the University’s enrollment management strategy and make adjustments quickly enough to stay on track to meet goals.
  • Provide leadership to functional areas (Admissions, Financial Aid, Athletics and Marketing & Communications) and supervise the efficient and effective operation of each area along with the attainment of established goals. 
  • Assess new and changing recruitment markets and strategies and be knowledgeable about best practices, trends and our competition.
  • Serve as a positive representative of Mount Mercy University to the internal and external community.
  • Communicate with the President, Provost, Vice Presidents, Board of Trustees, alumni, faculty and staff on enrollment management initiatives and support cross-campus strategy and operations for enrollment of all students.
  • Leadership and/or collaboration with officers and staff responsible for recruitment and retention of traditional undergraduate, adult accelerated and graduate students.
  • Develop, manage and maintain an enrollment management budget that is effective at balancing departmental needs with the fiduciary responsibilities of the University.
  • Actively participate in enrollment management events in order to provide leadership.
  • Ensure compliance with all local, state and federal laws and regulations.

The successful candidate must demonstrate a record of achievement in senior-level enrollment management in private, non-profit higher education along with advanced knowledge of recruiting and marketing best practices.  S/he must have direct experience with development and implementation of enrollment management strategic plans.  A Bachelor’s degree is required; Master’s degree or PhD preferred.  Knowledge of Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel, and Power Point is needed and familiarity with administrative software, preferably PowerCAMPUS, is highly desirable.  An understanding and commitment to the mission of Mount Mercy as a Catholic, Mercy University is essential.

Also needed is the mastery of communication in both oral and written form along with excellent interpersonal skills, and the ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with other departments, staff, faculty, students and the public.  This person must be able to effectively communicate the mission, vision and values of the University to internal and external groups.
