Dr. Graham has been with Mount Mercy since 1991. Her many leadership roles and accomplishments include serving as department Chair in 1997- 2002 and serving twice as social science division chair. She was appointed director of academic assessment in 2000, held the Feld Endowed Chair for Teaching Excellent in 2006 – 08, and was appointed dean of graduate studies in 2007, where she oversees Mount Mercy’s graduate programs in business, education, nursing and marriage and family therapy. She holds a Ph.D. and Master of Arts from Claremont Graduate University, and a Bachelor of Arts from the University of California, Los Angeles.

Handler received her doctoral degree in Curriculum and Instruction from the University of Tennessee, Knoxville, subsequently becoming an Associate Professor at that institution. She obtained her masters degree from Rutgers University, serving also as a classroom teacher in a nearby New Jersey district. Conference presentations, publishing, and consulting in such areas as mathematical thinking and instructional improvement are among her professional activities, along with special interests in planning and assessment. Handler previously serves as a Professor in the Education Division, where she taught and advised students planning to be elementary or secondary teachers.

In his role as interim assistant provost and dean of adult programs, Castle will oversee Mount Mercy's growing adult accelerated programs and graduate programs. Tom Castle has been with Mount Mercy since 1990. Before coming to Mount Mercy, Castle served as an adjunct faculty member at the University of Iowa, and worked as a marketing consultant. Castle is an active member of the Commission for Accelerated Programs (CAP), and is on the Faculty Advisory Council for Students in Free Enterprise (SIFE), which encourages outreach to schools and non-profit organizations on volunteer and service projects. In 2008, Castle developed and directed Mount Mercy's accelerated MBA program for working adults, and he continues to provide direction for all adult-focused and off-campus initiatives. Castle earned his BBA and MBA from the University of Iowa.
